County board approves budget

A proposed 2023 budget that reduces the tax rate by more than 3.5 mills was approved by the Cloud County board of commissioners during its regular meeting on Monday morning.
The board of commissioners approved the budget with an estimated tax rate of 63.899 mills, as compared to the actual tax rate of 67.475 mills in 2022 and 67.832 mills in 2021.
The proposed budget calls for net expenditures of $17,119,766. That is an increase from actual expenditures in 2022 of $16,721,832.
The assessed valuation of the county increased by $6,705,422, from $120,252,981 in 2022, to $126,958,403.
