County board authorizes signing CDBG-CV contract

The Cloud County board of commissioners voted during its regular meeting on Monday to authorize chairman Bill Czapanskiy to sign a contract and supporting documentation with the Kansas Department of Commerce for Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus Response Supplement (COVID-CV) funds.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced that Cloud County would receive $132,000 in CDBG-CV funds to aid businesses and other entities in the COVID-19 recovery process.
Grants awarded can be used for economic development and meal programs.
Cloud County applied in May for $300,000 in economic development funds, and was awarded $132,000.
To be eligible to receive CDVG-CV funds a business must be a for-profit business in existence as of March 1, 2020, and retaining jobs for moderate to low-income people. They must have 51 percent or more of the full-time equivalent jobs retained for persons from low-to-moderate income households, as defined by the United States Department of Urban Development.
Grants will be awarded to qualifying businesses on a first-come, first-serve basis.
