A drawing for the open seats on the Jamestown and Aurora city commissions, and a professional services agreement with CloudCorp were part of the action items at the regular meeting of the county commission on Monday.

In the November 7th local elections, Jason Martin and Brian Nelson were elected to the Jamestown city commission. One seat remained open, with Mitch Mansfield and Amber Colby receiving 23 votes each. Samantha Viereck received 19 votes.

On Monday commissioners conducted a drawing between Mansfield and Colby, and Colby was awarded the seat.

Also in the November 7th local elections, there was a tie between write-in votes for the one open seat on the Aurora city commission. Tom L'Ecuyer and Allen Kindel each received five write-in votes.

County commissioners held a drawing on Monday, and Tom L'Ecuyer was awarded the seat.

Tonya Sulanka, director of the Cloud County Health Department, informed commissioners that her department had received a $1,000 Safe Kids grant, which would be used to purchase about 10 cribs.

Sulanka added that her department had also received a $1,000 grant from the Leva and Frank Duclos Foundation, which would be used for the county's crisis pantry.

By unanimous vote, the commission voted to approve a professional services agreement with CloudCorp in the amount of $58,000.

Nicole Reed, executive director of Cloud Corp, also discussed with commissioners the possibility of a new daycare facility opening in Jamestown.

Cloud County highway administrator Andy Asch updated commissioners on overlay work being done on eight miles of road on 260th, south from Ames to the Aurora corner. Asch also discussed with commissioners the possibility of widening the UP Bridge and two other nearby bridges in the future, due to anticipated heavy use.
