County commission discusses road repairs

Needed repairs on the Ames/Miltonvale road were among the topics discussed by the Cloud County board of commissioners during its regular meeting on Monday.
Andy Asch, Highway Department administrator, reported to the board that Coughlin Company had marked 22 areas in need of repair on the road. The county marked an additional 49 areas.
Asch said he is expecting a call from Coughlin Company this week to discuss the areas.
County Attorney Robert Walsh told Asch to led him know after the conversation with Coughlin Company took place and to get him a copy of the contract.
Asch also reported that he was pricing sprayers and that the Glasco bridge project should be completed.
Sheriff Ken Davis met with the board and discussed the Emergency Preparedness shed located at the Law Enforcement Center. He said that Emergency Preparedness did not need the shed and asked to pour a cement pad and use it for storage.
Davis also discussed giving a vehicle to the Maintenance Department.
The board agreed to both proposals presented by Davis.
Davis presented an annual employee performance evaluation and compensation rates that could be used. No decision was made.
Also during the meeting, the board approved a rate change for Eric Wilson from $15.50 to $16.02 effective May 9 due to his probationary period ending.
The board approved a classification change for Richard Stromberg from equipment operator to asphalt foreman with a wage change to $18.04 effective May 9.
It was reported to the board that the sales tax received April 26 totaled $63,493.92 compared to the prior year totaling $55,838.63.
The board approved payroll deductions and benefits totaling $69,282.82 and the following payroll expenses totaling $158,609.91:
General Fund, $84,478.79; Road & Bridge, $41,675.30; Appraisal, $5,369.27; County Health, $18,151.90; Noxious Weed, $1,763.97; Election, $1,536.92; Solid Waste, $5,633.76.
