County continues tag renewals

The country is dealing with drastic changes in what used to be considered the norm. Government shutdowns and the closing of even local government offices are causing problems large and small. Staffs are trying to find ways to get the job done without face-to-face interactions.
One of the many inconveniences is how to renew your car tags.
The Cloud County Courthouse is closed to the public, but the staff is processing mail-in car tag renewals and real estate taxes.
The car tag renewal process is simple, but it doesn't cover every contingency. If you've received a renewal notice, mail that to the Cloud County Treasurer along with a copy of your insurance card and a check for the total amount.
"If you are purchasing a Wildlife & Park permit," said deputy treasurer Melissa Chaplin, "include an additional $15.50 in the total amount of your check."
The Treasurer's office will process the payment and mail your tags to you.
If you've received a renewal notice, the easiest way to renew your tags is to go online. Log on to ikan.ks.gov - you will need the PIN# included in the renewal notice.
There is an extra processing fee for the online transaction, and at this time, the fee has not been waived.
