Davis to run for sherrif

Kenneth Davis became the second former Cloud County Sheriff's Department employee to declare he is seeking the Republican nomination for the office of Sheriff.
Davis, currently a corporal with the Concordia Police Department, filed a candidate's declaration of intention with the Kansas Secretary of State's office. His fingerprints will be sent to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to process and determine if he is eligible before the filing is made official.
Jon Strowig, the assistant chief of police in Belleville, filed to run for sheriff earlier this month. He served as an undersheriff for the Cloud County Sheriff's Office.
Davis was a sergeant with the Cloud County Sheriff's Office before resigning in December of 2018.
Sheriff Brian Marks, a Republican, has not yet filed for re-election. He is serving a third term.
The filing deadline is June 1 at noon.
