Final informational meeting on Protective Homes is Wednesday

The final Information Meeting for Protective Homes will be held Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in the basement meeting room at the Cloud County Courthouse.
Protective Homes service the six counties of the 12th Judicial District. Children ranging in age from newborn babies to 17-year old minors must sometimes be removed from their current living situation and placed in Police Protective Custody. They are held for 72 hours while the court system assesses their needs and finds a permanent home for them. It is often an emotional and frightening experience for the children, and Protective homes take them in and care for them during those crucial 72 hours.
In Cloud County, there is currently only one Protective Home.
The Informational Meeting will explain to those interested in becoming a Protective Home exactly what the 72-hour process entails, and the requirements necessary to be a Protective Home.
