FLAG RAISING HONORS DONATE LIFE MONTH

April is National Donate Life Month, and Cloud County Health Center (CCHC) held a short ceremony on April 21st to raise the Donate Life flag.
The staff of CCHC aims to increase the number of registered donors by creating an awareness of the great need for organ and tissue donation. The Donate Life flag honors the courage and memory of all those who give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
CCHC partners with other hospitals and transplant centers in the Midwest Transplant Network to spread the word about the growing need for donors. 95% of U.S. citizens are in favor of being a donor, but only 58% are registered donors.
78% of Kansans have registered to be a donor. Everyone can be a registered donor regardless of age, race or medical history. A commitment to donation never interferes with medical care. Saving the donor’s life is always top priority whenever someone becomes sick or injured.
The need for organ donation continues to outpace the number of registered organ donors.  In Missouri and Kansas, nearly 2,500 people are waiting for life-saving organ transplants.
Joining the donor registry is a simple process. Individuals can register online at www.sharelifemidwest.com or at the DMV when obtaining or renewing a driver’s license or ID card.
Green bracelets, pens and other small symbols of Donate Life are available in the main lobby of Cloud County Health Center.  More information can be found at www.mwtn.org.   CCHC encourages everyone to Give Hope – Share Life.
