Health Dept. reports 15 new virus cases

Today the Cloud County Health Department (CCHD) reported 15 new cases of COVID-19.
Cloud County has recorded 18 cases of COVID-19 in the last 7 days.
There is currently 1 patient hospitalized.
The recent surge in COVID-19 cases across the entire United States is attributed to the Delta variant which is reaching unprecedented infection levels in parts of county, predominately among the unvaccinated.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has stated that the Delta variant is "twice as contagious as the original strain of the coronavirus that causes the disease COVID-19."
The CDC also stated that, nationwide, the Delta variant is responsible for 83 percent of new COVID-19 cases, and 97 percent of people hospitalized with COVID-19 are unvaccinated.
In Cloud County, a total of 1,036 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded since the outbreak began. To date, 4,096 negative tests have been administered.
