Poore is October Student of the Month

When you speak with Aidan Poore, you quickly realize he's an intelligent and articulate young man, knowledgeable on a wide variety of subjects. When he speaks it's with a sincerity that is refreshing.
The son of Kathy Poore and Justin Poore, Aidan participates in the National Honor Society, football, track, and serves as the executive president of the Student Council at Concordia High School.
He already has his future planned out. He'll be attending the University of Kansas in the fall to study human biology. "I'm going to take a lot of science classes," he said, "so I can do better when I apply to medical school."
Poore is going to be a doctor. It seems to be something of a family tradition. His father is a doctor, and his sister is studying pre-med at the University of Utah. "I plan on specializing either in radiology or cardiology. I think I'm better if I focus on one thing."
Poore is a strapping young man close to six feet tall and pushing 200 pounds. He's a standout wingback for the Panther football team, but his favorite sport is track. Pole vaulting, to be precise. His personal best is a vault of 13' 1". "I plan on beating that this year."
The football team just suffered its first loss of the season against Riley County. It was a quiet bus ride home. "I think we just underestimated their athletic abilities. Honestly, we just didn't have a good night that night. We'll learn from it. It was a good time of the season to have a loss like that."
Poore doesn't have a lot of spare time, but when he's not involved in a school activity or working out, he likes to read. "I'm reading Game of Thrones right now. It's a lot more involved than the tv shows."
Poore is ready for college and the challenges that lay ahead, but he is going to miss Concordia. "I"m going to miss the connectivity of the community," he said. "People care about each other here. I really want to thank my parents, and also Traci Poore and Dave Wood for supporting me."
When Poore looks to the future, he sees himself doctoring in a small town. "I'll probably be somewhere in the Midwest. I like the small town atmosphere."
He also knows exactly what house he wants to be living in: a colonial-style house with red bricks and white columns. "Dr. Kueker's house by the golf course is pretty cool. So is Dr. Garlow's house."
When asked if he has an architectural bent, Poore offered up his disarmingly honest grin and said, "No, I just like the way their houses look. There's no deeper meaning behind it."
Congratulations to Aidan Poore, the CHS Student of the Month for October.
