Pounds, Muff sworn in as new CCCC board members

Kevin Pounds and Kevin Muff were sworn in as new members of the Cloud County Community College board of trustees during its organizational meeting on Wednesday.
Pounds was elected to the board of trustees in November. He was the leading vote getter with 1,085 votes.
Richard Hubert was re-elected to the board in November with 834 votes.
Muff was appointed to fill a vacant position on the board during a meeting in December.
Jim Koch had filed to run for re-election to the board prior to passing away last year. His name appeared on the ballot, and he was elected posthumously.
A board vacancy notice was published and the college received two letters of interest in filling the board vacancy.
By a 3-1 vote, Muff was appointed to the board.
During the reorganizational part of the meeting, Jesse Pounds was re-elected as the board chairman.
David Garnas was elected as the board vice chairman.
The board re-elected Samantha Pounds as the board clerk/secretary.
Caesar Wood, the vice president of administrative services, was re-elected as the board treasurer.
The board voted to again designate Ferrell Law Firm as the college's law firm and Central National Bank as the college depository.
Committee appointments approved by the board include:
Kevin Pounds, delegate to the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees; Muff, representative to the Kansas Association of School Boards government relations network and Cloud County Community College Foundation board; Hubert, representative to the CloudCorp board of directors.
Board committee appointments approved by the board include:
Garnas, Hubert and Amber Hanson, audit and finance committee; Pounds, nominating/president's evaluation committee; Hubert, benefits committee; and Pounds and Hanson to the negotiating team with Muff as the alternate.
The board also approved scheduling its regular meeting dates to the fourth Monday of each month, beginning at 5 p.m. in Room 257 of the President's Addition.
In previous years, the regular meetings were on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
The next regular meeting will be on January 22.
Following the meeting on Wednesday, the trustees took a tour of the $18 million Technical Education and Innovation Center that is under construction on College Drive.
