School board approves hiring of new principal

The Unified School District 333 board of education approved the hiring of Kale Klatt as the new Concordia Junior-Senior High School principal during a special meeting on Friday.
A graduate of the University of Iowa with a bachelor of arts degree in English, Klatt earned a bachelor of science degree in secondary education from Kansas State University, a master of science degree in school leadership from Baker University and is currently working toward a doctor of education degree in educational leadership at Kansas State University.
Klatt has served for two years as the principal at Wamego High School after working as the principal at BIT Academy in Junction City.
The school board approved the hiring of Klatt after accepting the resignation of Chad Kenworthy earlier in May.
Kenworthy was hired as an assistant principal of instruction at Concordia High School in April.
The board approved transferring junior-senior high school principal Troy Keiswetter to the Concordia Middle School principal position to replace Darlene Griffiths, who resigned.
Kenworthy, who was transferred to the junior-senior high school principal position resigned for personal reasons earlier in May.
Also during the meeting on Friday, the board approved the hiring of Michael Cyr and Robin Daniels as mathematics instructors and Anna Sassman as MTTS coordinator/instructional support.
The resignation of Kathy Beougher, Learning Cooperative of North Central Kansas psychologist, was approved by the board.
Included in the list of classified staff changes approved by the board during the meeting is the hiring of David Gieber as head high school softball coach to replace Larry Metro, and Gerald Sorell as assistant coach.
Also included were the hiring of Violette Kjeldgaard as high school drama sponsor to replace Chris Stiles.
Kjeldgaard is an instructor of English and the speech and theater director at Cloud County Community College.
The hiring of Bobbie McWhorter as the sponsor for the new junior high school cheer program and Bailey Miller as the Concordia Elementary School secretary were approved.
