Some CCCC staff issue no confidence declaration in board of trustees

Members of the Cloud County Community College faculty and staff from both the Concordia and Geary County campuses have issued a declaration of no confidence in the board of trustees following a vote in May to not renew the contracts of president Dr. Adrian Douglas and coordinator of student engagement Dr. Bruce Douglas.
A letter to the editor submitted to The Concordia Blade-Empire, stating that the board of trustees has engaged in poor management practices, was signed by 15 members of the college faculty and staff.
The board of trustees voted during a special meeting in May not to renew the contract of Adrian Douglas.
Douglas took over as president of the college on May 9, 2018.
The vote by the board was cast following four separate executive sessions for the purpose of discussing non-elected personnel, that included college attorney Justin Ferrell.
Amber Knoettgen, vice president of administrative services, was appointed as the interim president.
The board also voted during the meeting not to renew the contract of Bruce Douglass, who had served as coordinator of student engagement since January 23, 2019.
The letter submitted states: “The undersigned faculty and staff wholeheartedly support Dr. Adrian Douglas. She has provided a positive direction and what we consider to be exemplary leadership to the College.”
