Third arrest made in KBI investigation into jail

A third suspect was arrested Friday, and an additional arrest warrant was issued, following an investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) into former employees of the Cloud County Law Enforcement Center.
According to a release from the KBI, Nicholas Clanin, 33, Concordia, was arrested at about 11 a.m. Friday in Belleville on charges of theft, misuse of public funds, official misconduct and destroying a written instrument. He was booked into the Republic County Jail.
Clanin was a lieutenant at the Cloud County Law Enforcement Center at the time the alleged crimes took place.
An arrest warrant was issued for Alexandra Wilcox, 22, Shawnee, Okla., for misdemeanor theft related to the case. She was formerly a corrections officer at the Law Enforcement Center.
Two previous arrests were made last week in connection with a KBI investigation into alleged misconduct by employees of the Cloud County Sheriff's Office that dates back to December 2019.
Amber Lindberg, 40, Concordia, was arrested last Wednesday morning at 212 N. Concord in Minneapolis on charges of theft, misuse of public funds, official misconduct, making false information, conspiracy to commit theft, conspiracy to commit official misconduct, conspiracy to commit misuse of public funds and conspiracy to commit destroying a written instrument. She was booked into the Saline County Jail.
Lindberg was the administrator at the Cloud County Jail when the KBI investigation began.
Joyce Jasper, 62, Concordia, who is Lindberg's mother, was also arrested last Wednesday on a charge of theft and booked into the Cloud County Jail.
The KBI executed several search warrants, including one at the Cloud County Law Enforcement Center, in December 2019 as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged misconduct.
In January 2020, the Cloud County board of commissioners approved terminating Lindberg, Clanin and Wilcox as employees of the Cloud County Sheriff's Office and the Cloud County Law Enforcement Center.
Lincoln County attorney Jennifer O'Hare was appointed as the special prosecutor in the case in June 2020 for the purpose of the investigation of possible criminal acts, because of a potential conflict of interest.
