Voters to elect new commissioners, sheriff

Two new members of the Concordia city commission and a new Cloud County Sheriff will be elected this fall.
The filing deadline for partisan candidates expired at noon on Monday.
A primary election is scheduled for August 4, and the general election is November 3.
The deadline to register to vote is June 14.
Advance voting in person and by mail begins July 15.
Voters can still vote in person on election day, but can also request an advance mail ballot without needing an excuse. The deadline to apply for a mail ballot through the County Clerk's Office or online for the primary election is July 28.
City commission seats held by Mark Matthew and Keaton Snavely are up for election this November. Neither has filed to seek re-election.
Ashley Hutchinson and Regena Belden have filed to run for the open commission seats.
Cloud County Sheriff Brian Marks is also not seeking re-election to a fourth term.
Concordia Police Department officer Ken Davis and Belleville assistant police chief Jon Strowig will face off in the Republican primary election.
No other candidates filed.
The race for the Republican nomination for the District 3 position on the Cloud County board of commissioners includes four candidates, Ron Copple, Gail Engle and Lance Lagasse, all of Concordia, and Michael Haley of Delphos, and will be decided in the August primary.
Incumbent Bill Garrison is not running for a second term.
Gary Caspers, a Republican from Concordia, is running unopposed for the District 2 seat on the county commission. He is seeking a fifth term.
The District 1 seat on the commission held by Bill Czapanskiy is not up for election this fall.
County office holders running unopposed for re-election this fall include County Attorney Rob Walsh, Democrat, Concordia; Clerk Shella Thoman, Republican, Concordia; Treasurer JoDee LeDuc, Democrat, Clyde; and Register of Deeds Jana Roush, Republican, Concordia.
