DENNIS LYNN COLLINS

Dennis Lynn Collins was born May 21, 1951 at Concordia, Kansas to Robert and Nadine Collins.
He was baptized as an infant at the Presbyterian Church in Jamestown, Kansas.
Dennis attended school in Concordia, graduating from Concordia High School in the class of 1969. He attended Cloud County Community College before continuing his education at The Kansas Technical Institute of Salina and held a degree from Kansas State University in Aviation Mechanics.
Dennis was a co-owner of Midwest Aircraft Services in Newton, Kansas until retiring in 2017. On January 27, 1973, Dennis was united in marriage with Karen Wissing of Salina. Dennis and Karen were blessed with daughters Jennifer (James) Connolly and Katherine Collins. They have a grandson, Fisher Connelly and a step-grand-daughter, Meegan Connolly. Dennis and Karen spent their married years residing in Benton, Kansas.
Dennis and his brother Don established Collins Racing with car 7C over 50 years ago. The family had a passion for racing and car 7C had the following of many wonderful friends.
Dennis was fatally injured in a vehicle accident in McPherson while driving home after the annual Collins celebration on Christmas Eve in Concordia. He died at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita on December 25, 2018. Family meant everything to Dennis. He was excited about spending Christmas morning with his grandson, Fisher and other family members.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, daughters, Jennifer (James) Connelly and Katherine Collins, grandson, Fisher Connolly, all of Benton; step-granddaughter, Meegan Connolly, Wichita; mother-in-law, Barbara Wissing of Salina; brother, Donald (Pauline) Collins, of Concordia; sisters, Phyllis (Larry) Ostrom, Diane (Rod) Sothers, Ronda (Jeff) Gumm, all of Concordia; and numerous nieces, nephews and a huge family of friends.
Dennis was a good friend to all who knew him. He will be missed by many.
The family suggest memorials to either the Concordia Presbyterian Church Door Project or the Saron Baptist Church in care of Chaput Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
A Celebration of Life will be held January 12 in Benton, Kansas with a private family burial to be held at a later date.
