Block parties planned for National Night Out

Neighborhood block parties will once again highlight Concordia's 9th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday night in Concordia.
Block parties planned for the event include: Janet and Larry Eubanks, 505 West Fifth St.; Kenny Allen, 1117 Broadway St.; Concordia Police Department, parking lot at Sixth and Cedar; Hood Park, 13th and Archer and the Broadway Plaza, 600 Broadway St.
National Night Out is a community-police awareness raising event held the first Tuesday in August in most areas. It has been held annually since 1984 and began simply with neighbors turning on their porch lights and sitting in front of their homes.
The first National Night Out involved 2.5 million residents across 400 communities in 23 states.
The 25th Annual National Night Out in 2018, involved an estimated 38.6 million people from 16,790 communities from all 50 states, U.S. Territories and military bases worldwide.
