CCCC women claim fourth straight win

The Cloud County Community College women's soccer team won its fourth consecutive match by knocking off Dodge City Community College 4-1 at home on Saturday.
Cloud County opened the season with road losses to a pair of ranked teams, but has outscored its last four opponents 24-4 to improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Jayhawk Conference West Division.
Dodge City falls to 1-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the conference with the loss.
Sophomore Izabella Christiana Mine gave Cloud County the early lead when she scored off an assist from sophomore Aroa Nieto just 7:34 into the match.
Nieto took a pass from Mine and scored in the 18th minute to give the Thunderbirds a 2-0 cushion.
Six minutes into the second half, Nieto picked up her second assist of the match when she set up a goal by sophomore Franciele Cupertino, and Cloud County led 3-0.
Mine scored her second goal in the 79th minute.
A shot attempt by Mine was saved by the Dodge City goalkeeper, but she was able to score off the deflection.
The Conquistadors scored their only goal in the 85th minute when Bethany Middlemass headed into a corner kick.
Cloud County racked up 28 shots in the match, to just three for Dodge City.
The T-Birds had 14 shots on goal.
Thaynara Soares was in goal for Cloud County, and had one save.
Cloud County plays a conference match at Pratt Community College on Wednesday.
