Duclos Foundation awards more than $44,000 in grants

The advisory board of the Leva and Frank Duclos Foundation approved awarding more than $44,000 in grants during its meeting on Tuesday.
The board gave special attention to organizations that provide direct financial assistance to individuals and families experiencing hardships.
It is the belief of the committee that these organizations will be impacted tremendously in the coming months as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Grants approved include:
Republic County Resource Council, Belleville - $10,000 to C.A.R.E. Committee (community assistance) for crisis/hardship funds.
Cloud County Community Resource Council, Concordia - $8,000 to the Cloud County Food Bank to purchase food; $5,000 to the Crisis Fund for utility and medical bills and other financial crisis assistance.
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Washington D.C. - $5,000 to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Concordia for Helping Hands funding.
Unified School District 333, Concordia - $500 to the Concordia After School Program for field trips and supplies funding.
Belleville After School Program - $3,500 for scholarship assistance.
City of Belleville - $300 to the Belleville Public Library to purchase “Bug Zapper” recommended by the Central Kansas Library System for cleaning returned items.
City of Delphos - $450 to the Delphos Public Library for ADA and misc. plumbing upgrades.
City of Jamestown - $500 to Jamestown Public Library to update the Children's AWE Learning System.
Blair Center for the Arts Foundation, Belleville - $650 for bike racks.
Great Plains of Republic County, Inc., Belleville – $500 to Republic County Hospital car seat safety program funding; $300 to Republic County Hospital obstetric department for breastfeeding education initiative funding.
Glasco Community Foundation - $1,800 to support operating the Corner Store building.
Brown Grand Theatre, Concordia - $1,000 for replacement seating.
National Orphan Train Complex, Inc., Concordia - $1,000 for emergency general operating fund.
The Nicol Home, Glasco - $1,000 for vibroacoustic chair for residents.
KSDS Assistance Dogs, Inc., Washington, - $500 for veterinary care expenses.
Cloud County Association for Retarded Citizens, Inc. - $2,313.50 for program funding.
Meadowlark Hospice, - $2,313.50 for program funding.
The next meeting of the Leva and Frank Duclos Foundation is scheduled for November 2020.
