Construction of Runway 18/36 progressing

Construction of the new Runway 18/36 at Blosser Municipal Airport is progressing.
The dirt work, tree removal and installation of drainage pipes have been completed.
The project will be shut down for the winter. That will allow the dirt work fill to naturally settle, making it ready to receive concrete pavement when work resumes in March.
The runway project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2021.
Vogts-Parga Construction, Newton, is the general contractor on the project. Benesch, Manhattan, is the engineer.
Runway 18/36 will be 4,000 feet long and 75 feet wide. That is 400 feet longer and 75 feet wider than current Runway 17/35.
The extra length will allow larger B-II airplanes to land and take off at the airport, providing better infrastructure support to local businesses and air ambulance service.
The runway project is fully funded by a $6.95 million grant through the Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program. No local match is required.
