Alvin L. Cook

Alvin Lee Cook, age 93, lifetime Concordia resident, entered into rest on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the Sunset Home, Concordia, Kansas. He was born on February 16, 1929, in Concordia, Kansas, to Herman and Grace (Wretling) Cook.
Alvin was a 1947 graduate of Jamestown High School, Jamestown, Kansas. After high school he attended Kansas State Agriculture College in Manhattan, Kansas, before returning to farm with his father in Buffalo Township. He was a fourth generation Cloud County farmer.
Alvin was united in marriage to Lottie Jo Swengel on May 27, 1951, at the First Christian Church in Concordia, Kansas. To this union two daughters were born, LaVeda and LuAnn. The family was thrilled that the Covid restrictions lifted just enough that we could be together to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary last May.
Alvin was a member of the First Christian Church where he served many capacities including as an Elder for 50 years. He also served on the Board of the Cloud County Soil Conservation District, was active in Cloud County Dairy and Sheep Associations, Jamestown Rural Fire District and West Branch Cemetery Board. He was a lifetime farmer and rancher in the Cloud County community.
Alvin loved the Lord from an early age and desired that everyone know the saving grace of Jesus. He was a devoted husband who dearly loved his family. He found great contentment tending to his livestock and being a steward of the land the Lord had provided.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Jo Cook, Concordia; two daughters, LaVeda Hobbie (Gary), Salina, Kan., LuAnn Callan (Jerry), Clay Center, Kan.; four grandchildren, Vanessa White (Nick), John, James and Hannah Callan and one great-grandson, Ben White; also a niece, Bonnie Driskell (Russ), Taos, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Grace, and one sister, Lula Mae Bolander.
Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Fellowship Christian Church, Concordia, Kansas, with Pastors Dwight Whitead, Al Paredes and Matthew Carder officiating. Burial will follow at West Branch Cemetery, rural Concordia, Kansas.
