Charles “Chuck” E. Brooks, 77, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, in the Garrison Memorial Hospital after being transported from the Benedictine Living Community--Garrison due to health complications.
Chuck was born on December 8, 1945, to Barbara (Hanson) & Charles E. Brooks in Concordia, Kansas, where he graduated in 1963. The day after graduation, Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged. He came to Sawyer, N.D., with a harvesting crew where he met Judy Smith. Chuck worked various positions at Basin Electric from 1974 until he retired on May 31, 2007. Most recently, he was working as a night security officer at Minot Job Corps. Chuck was hard working, loving, caring and generous. He enjoyed music, from playing the piano to building his own intricate flutes; he took pride in his work. He spent many years working cattle and living the farming life with his wife in and around Sawyer. He has spent a great deal of time at Schatz Truck Stop where he's made so many friends. He will be missed by the many people who have served and supported him over the years. Chuck didn't know a stranger.
