Craig Allan Callihan was born on June 25, 1969, in Belleville, Kansas, to James Callihan & Carole (Odette) Lagasse. He passed from this life on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.
He graduated from Clifton-Clyde High School in the Class of '87.
Craig worked for Willbrant Construction for 24 years as a heavy equipment operator. He previously owned and operated his own trucking business known as C/C. Craig’s handle was Billy Big Rigger.
He had an unfiltered mouth and sense of humor. He always expressed his opinion and you never had to wonder what he was thinking. He was a dog lover, having Fuzzy, JoJo, and Peppa, who predeceased him, and Katie, who survives.
Craig enjoyed hanging out with his friends in special places around the Clyde community. He also enjoyed barbequing. One of his biggest joys was to visit KC’s Expression where he had donated a large ceramic pot. They asked him “Craig, what will you do when you retire?” His comeback was that he was going to be a greeter for the beauty salon, by the door where his ceramic pot sits.
He is survived by his mother, Carole Lagasse & husband, Lowell, Clyde, Kansas; father, James Callihan, Oshkosh, Nebraska; nieces, Alicia (Brennan) Anderson of Concordia, Kansas, Maycee Callihan and Mallory Callihan of Agenda, Kansas; nephew, Brandon Callihan, Concordia, Kansas; aunt, Marcia Lanoue, Salina, Kansas; cousins, Jacquelyn (Dennis) Kach, Salina, Kansas, Derek (Tina) Lanoue, Salina, Kansas; special friends, his Willbrant family, Mike “Zeke” Chartier, Josh Chartier, and Jamie Luecke.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Francis and Fern Odette, and brother, Jeff.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Chaput Mortuary in Clyde, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A private family graveside will be held at a later date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas.
The family suggests memorials to the City of Clyde, designated for future improvements to the Clyde City Park in memory of Craig. For online condolences please visit, www.chaputbuoy.com.
