Deborah Sue Borden Miranda

Deborah Sue Borden Miranda, age 67, of Concordia, Kansas, entered into rest on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the Mayo Clinic, St. Mary’s Campus, in Rochester, Minnesota. She was born on February 18, 1956, to J.P. and Carolyn (Tew) Borden in Patuxent River, Maryland.
She grew up in Pensacola, Fla., until her family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, her senior year, where she graduated from Richard King High School in 1974. She married Apolonio Miranda on September 17, 1977, in Kingsville, Texas, and to this union three children were born: Jennifer, Reba and Luke.
Deborah received her bachelor of science in psychology & sociology from Texas A&I University in 1978.
She was a stay-at-home mom so she could be an active part of all her children’s school activities and was involved in Home & School and Parents in Education. When the kids were older Deborah went to work for Concordia Elementary School as a para/technology teacher for eight years. She later worked as a sales associate at Wal-Mart for 17 years until her retirement in 2019.
She enjoyed her cats, going to the casino with friends, and especially, spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Deborah is survived by her husband, Apolonio Miranda, Concordia, Kan.; daughters, Jennifer Bauer (Bradley), Concordia, Kan. & Reba Koster (Jordan), Wamego, Kan., and son, Luke Miranda (Angelina), Concordia, Kan.; grandchildren, Mya & Katelyn Bauer & Brantley Koster; sisters, Donna Alvarez (Raul), Pueblo, Colo. and Lori Schechtel (Craig), Highland Mills, N.Y.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2023, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with her sister, Donna Alvarez, officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas. Friends may sign the register book from 1-8 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023, with family greeting friends from 6-7 p.m., all at the funeral home.
