Dennis Karl Tholstrup

Dennis Karl Tholstrup, 81, passed away at his home, May 26, 2023, at the age of 81. Dennis was born April 28, 1942, at his parents' farm southwest of Concordia in Arion Township, Cloud County, Kansas.
Dennis attended country school and graduated from Concordia High School, Class of 1960. He married Cynthia Ann (Hanson) Tholstrup, September 26, 1959. They were married 57 years and 11 months.
Born to this marriage were four daughters, Marie Tholstrup of Salina, Kan., Marsha Strang of Concordia, Kan., Melinda Spear (Dave) of Concordia, Kan., and Amie Tholstrup of Concordia, Kan.
Dennis is survived by grandchildren, Nathan Tholstrup, Kyle Nelson, Joshua Seward (Daisy), Amanda Randolph (Jason), Matthew Seward (Kaylee), Sarah Blake (Andy), Macey Birdsall, Alexander Blake, and Karson Griffin; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Haivyn, Kiersten, Layla, Lacey, Ayden, Scarlett, Murphy, Easton, Braxton, Kyle II, Harper, Wyatt, Barrett, Delaney, Brooks and Kolson. He is also survived by his sister, Darlyene Rock (Ray) of Salina, Kan., and many friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Tholstrup; his parents, Harry and Grace (Thoman) Tholstrup; brothers, Dale, Donald, Delbert, and Darold Tholstrup; grandson, Dalton Blake and great-grandson, Padraig Randolph.
Dennis was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, and was hard working from an early age. Dennis started in the masonry business at age 17. He attempted retirement twice and officially retired at the age of 75. He owned and operated Dennis Tholstrup Masonry along with his wife. Dennis was a very talented stone mason, which is an art of beauty. He enjoyed spending time on his farm with the cattle and horses. He was always there for his girls, watching them in 4H, softball games, twirling or whatever they wanted or needed. He was there. Dennis always had a story and made everyone laugh with that ornery twinkle in his eye.
Visitation is Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Nutter Mortuary.
Memorial Services are Friday, June 9, 10 a.m. at Nutter Mortuary.
Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials to the Concordia High School FFA chapter.
