Devra Lea Tribbett

Devra Lea Tribbett was born in Concordia, Kansas, on May 31, 1951, to Richard and Marcheta Stolzenburg Hiner. She passed away at her home on August 13, 2022. She was 71 years old.
Devra grew up in Ames, Kan., and attended Ames Grade School. She graduated from Clyde High School with the class of 1970. She then joined the work force and continued to be employed all her life. She worked as a daycare provider, private housekeeper, a nursing home housekeeper and a motel housekeeping supervisor, and for the last 31 years she was employed at Scott’s Specialty in Concordia as a seamstress.
In 1972 Devra married Rodney Helzer and to this union was born her only son, Eric Lynn Helzer. Devra and Rodney divorced and several years later she married her second husband, Ray Tribbett. Ray passed away in 1988.
Devra enjoyed watching movies, especially westerns, dining out and family gatherings. She also was an avid Beatles fan. Throughout her life she was known for her devotion to her pets. She leaves three fur babies. For the last 10 years, Devra also served as primary caregiver for two Siamese cats that belonged to her parents. She lovingly dubbed them as “The Boys” or “The Property Brothers.”
She leaves the following immediate family to mourn: her son Eric Helzer, Concordia, Kan.; grandson, Blake Helzer, Clay Center, Kan.; two brothers, Arvine Hiner, Ames, Kan., Cain Hiner (Barb) of Assaria, Kan.; two sisters, Mickey Vork (Curt Carver), Nelson, Neb., and Kim Knieling (Gene) of Rush Center, Kan. Also surviving are three aunts – Doris McCall, New Cambria, Kan., Elaine Smith, Abilene, Texas and Lois Shotwell, Chapman, Kan. She also leaves to mourn numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of cousins and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Richard and Marcheta Hiner; aunts and uncles, Robert McCall, Tom Shotwell, Dwain Smith, Eldon and Ellen Stolzenburg, Chester and Linda Hiner. Also, cousins, Jim Stolzenburg and Darcy Tieking.
Visitation is Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nutter Mortuary. The casket will remain closed.
Graveside Service will be Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery, Rural Ames, Kan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date, in care of Nutter Mortuary.
