Donald Leon MacLean, the son of Donald and Evelyn MacLean, was born on October 20, 1944, in Salina, Kansas. Donald was the age of seventy-nine when he was called to be with Jesus on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center. Donald will forever be remembered as a kind, loving, generous husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, friend, and veteran.
Donald never met a stranger, he always had a listening ear, a warm embrace, and the wisest advice for his family and those in need of extra love. He could light up the room not only with his handsome smile but also with the smile from his big blue eyes. He enjoyed sharing his knick knacks and collectables with those that would stop by for a visit, along with a good joke and great conversation.  Donald deeply loved his family and the time spent with each of them, be it a trip to IHOP, Wal-Mart, a round at the gun range, watching TV, listening to music and was looking forward to fishing. Donald's favorite hobby most recently was game night, which he would always win no matter the game.
Donald not only loved and cared for his family but for his country as well. Donald was a Vietnam veteran, he served honorably as a Seabee in the Navy from 1966 to 1969, in which time he fought bravely in the Vietnam War, receiving the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Donald is preceded in death by parents; wife, Mary Beth MacLean; sisters-in-law, Betsy and Linda Mackey.
Donald is survived by sons, Brian MacLean (Dawn Kenney) of Salina, Kansas, and Jeffrey MacLean (Heather MacLean) of League City, Texas; grandchildren, Anthony Rossi (Marlena Jimenez) of Tampa, Florida, Brianna MacLean (Tristan Hofmeier) of Hutchinson, Kansas, Brittany Shoemaker (Lane Shoemaker) of Chester, Nebraska, Nickolas MacLean of Wichita, Kansas, Jacob MacLean of League City, Texas, and Kegan MacLean of League City, Texas; siblings-in-law, Dennis Mackey (Nancy Mackey) of Tucson, Arizona, Steve Mackey of Merced, California, Ellen Mackey of Sun Valley, California, and Theresa James (Bernie James) of Concordia, Kansas.
Memorial Services will be Monday, November 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Clear Lake Bible Church, 622 El Dorado Blvd., Houston, Texas 77062, with Pastor Kirk Gambrell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund or Wounded Warriors. If you are sending flowers, please send to church on day of service.
