Doris Lucile (Galloway) Winteroth

Doris Lucile (Galloway) Winteroth died in Newington, Connecticut, at age 98, on July 29, 2023. She was born on August 11, 1924, at the family farm, located two miles north of Jamestown in Cloud County, Kansas
Doris went to Kansas State University and graduated with a home economics BS degree. Over time she studied summer courses at KSU to keep up with new information in home ec and education courses.
Doris taught in high school, elementary school and junior high school in Norton, Kansas, for 29.5 years. They started a family with two daughters, Kathleen and Suzanne. They joined the Methodist Church and were active with the youth and adults.
The family traveled in the summers around the United States. Later they toured Alaska, Hawaii, Scandinavia, Europe, Mexico, South Africa, and Asia. Doris brought several things from each country and shared her photos with many programs in Norton.
Doris was predeceased by her father, Ralph Wilson Galloway; mother, Alice Luana Christensen Galloway; an infant brother, Eldon Lorraine Galloway; a sister, Ethel Galloway Vaughan; brother-in law, Norman W. Vaughan; and her husband, Robert S. Winteroth. She is survived by daughters and spouses, Kathleen Winteroth Hursh and James Shuey (Estes Park, Colo.) and Suzanne Winteroth and Cliff Goff (Meriden, Conn.); grandsons and granddaughters, Asa Hursh and Erika Patall (Los Angeles, Calif.), Austin Hursh and Gulshan Fazal (Rochester, N.Y.), Amelia Goff Young (Meriden, Conn.), Allie Goff (Hobbs, N.M.), and great-grandchildren, Corinne Hursh and Cleo Hursh (Los Angeles, Calif.), Bear Young and SummerRose Young (Meriden, Conn.), along with many friends throughout her life.
The family will gather and celebrate her life in the summer of 2024.
