Edyth Rae Deckard (Edie)

Edyth Rae Deckard (Edie), age 72, of Emory, Texas, went to be with Our Lord in Heaven on July 3, 2023, in Tyler, Texas.  
Edie was born on June 9, 1951, in Cuba, Kansas, to Edward and Helen Shulda. She was a 1969 graduate of Hillcrest High School in Cuba, Kansas. After graduation, Edie attended nursing school. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital and several other medical clinics in the Concordia, Kansas, area.
In 2006 Bernie and Edie moved to Texas to enjoy lake life, and she continued her nursing career at Trinity Mother Frances clinics until retirement. Edie enjoyed dancing, singing, clogging and many pets, along with spending time outdoors. She also enjoyed making floral arrangements, camping and fishing. She was an avid birdwatcher and loved nature, including all of the wildlife that would run through the yard.
Edie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bernie Deckard of Emory, Texas; their daughter, Alesha Halfhide (William) of Wichita, Kan.; stepdaughter, Shelley Deckard of Newport Beach, Calif.; brother, Claygatt Shulda (Connie) of Cuba, Kan.; sister, Edna Hanzlicek (Dale) of Newton, Kan., and several nieces and nephews.   
Cremation has taken place with Boren-Conner funeral home in Bullard, Texas.  
A Celebration of Life service will be held in Concordia, Kansas, at Nutter Mortuary, July 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.
Memorials can be sent in care of Nutter Mortuary to the O’Conner Animal Shelter or the WWII POW Camp in Concordia, Kansas.
