Genevieve “Jenny” Anna Jones

Genevieve “Jenny” Anna Jones, age 96, entered into rest on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde. She was born in Republic County, Kansas, on March 8, 1927, to Irvin and Mary (Dunphy) Hockman.
Jenny was a 1945 graduate of Clyde High School, Clyde, Kansas. She went on to receive her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas.
Jenny taught all eight grades in country schools, north of Clyde. She also taught school at all the air bases where David was stationed.
Genevieve married David Jones on Feb. 6, 1954, in Clyde, Kansas. Genevieve and David lived in California, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Arkansas, and Texas, during his service in the U.S. Air Force. After David’s retirement they moved back to Clyde and Jenny taught the second grade at Clyde until her retirement.
Jenny enjoyed quilting, knitting, gardening, painting, and most of all, spending time with her family.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, CDA, VFW Women’s Aux., and Delta Kappa Gamma Society for women educators.
Genevieve is survived by her sister, JoAnne Balthazor, Clyde, Kansas; sister-in-law, Martha Jones, Newington, N.H., and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews and a community of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Irvin and Mary; a brother, Arthur Hockman; and sister, Gloria Naillieux.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, with Fr. Joseph Kieffer officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Chaput Mortuary from 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Family will receive friends after the Rosary Service.
