H. DEAN THOMPSON

H. Dean Thompson passed away on July 20, 2019, in Nice, California. He was born in Smith Center, Kansas, on September 26, 1927, to Cecil and Ida Thompson of Concordia, Kan.  
Dean grew up in Concordia, Kan., where he attended public schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December, 1944. He served on the USS Argonne in the Western Pacific. After returning to Concordia from service he married Virginia Everley and had two children (Jan and Mike). Dean left Kansas in 1953 for California and later married Luellea Smith. She passed in 1982. Dean was a barber in California for many years. He was an avid fisherman, spending time at the coast, ocean fishing and growing a garden.
He is survived by his wife Maxine of Lakeport, California; one daughter, Jan Blochlinger (Larry), Concordia, Kan.; and one son, Michael Thompson (Sharon) of Basehor, Kan. He has four grandsons, Jeff Blochlinger, Lance Thompson, Grant Thompson, Neil Thompson; one granddaughter, Jennifer Gold and two great-granddaughters, Jaiden Buller, and Jocelyn Buller.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and a brother (Richard) of Concordia.
Dean chose to be cremated and no services will be held at this time.
