ILA MARIE HITTLE
June 19, 1950-January 27, 2024
Ila was born to Rhea and Richard Sherbert on June 19, 1950, in Clay Center, Kansas, and passed away on January 27, 2024, at the Pratt Health and Rehab Facility, Pratt, Kansas. She discovered later that her actual biological father was Austin Mansfield, who had married Rhea after she divorced Mr. Sherbert. Ila lived for a time in Concordia but then moved to Liberal, Kansas. She married Jim Walton on June 1, 1968. They had one son, James Dalee Walton. She then married Dan Hittle in 1971. She had no children with Dan, but did have two stepchildren, Lisa and Chris Hittle. During her lifetime she worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in Liberal several years, Mobil Oil Company in Hugoton, Rosel Energy, and the Liberal Police Department, finally finishing out her working years with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks in Pratt, Kansas, after she and Dan moved to Iuka, Kansas, in 2008. She enjoyed traveling, several hobbies and her dogs. As per her instructions, no services are to be held at this time.
Ila is survived by her husband, Dan, Iuka, Kansas; son, Dale Walton, Avondale, Arizona, granddaughters, Victoria and Veronica; stepson, Chris Hittle and wife, Melissa Hittle, step-grandchildren, Bailey and Jake, all of Pratt, Kansas; stepdaughter, Lisa Johnson and husband Phil, Cushing, Oklahoma, step-grandchildren, Sierra Longoria, Ponca City, Oklahoma, Schyler Thyssen of Cushing, Oklahoma, and Jessica Cain and husband, Kaleb, Enid, Oklahoma.
As per Ila’s wishes, cremation has taken place with remains to be buried in Concordia, Kansas, beside her parents. There will be no services, as she wished. Any remembrances should be made to your local animal shelter in her name.
