James Dean Anderson Sr

James Dean Anderson Sr., 82, of Clyde, Kansas, passed away on September 30, 2023, peacefully at his home. Jim was born in Belleville, Kansas, on January 16, 1941, to Dean B. and Edith (James) Anderson. Jim grew up on a farm near Agenda, Kansas. He graduated from Agenda High School in 1958 and continued his education at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas, with a degree in education. He married and later divorced and to this union four children were born.
Jim coached sports programs and taught in several different school districts. The most notable was at Clyde, Kansas, school district which became Clifton-Clyde when the two towns consolidated. He retired from Clifton-Clyde USD 224 in 1995. Jim farmed on the Anderson homestead and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Courtland, Kansas.
He married Doreen Junek on March 28, 1998, and gained a stepson, Adam Junek. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Edith; brother, John Anderson; sister-in-law, Karen Anderson; father-in-law, David Hughes; brother-in-law, Richard Hughes; and nephew, Jared Hughes.
Jim is survived by his wife, Doreen Anderson of the home; stepson, Adam Junek (Emily) and step-grandsons, Jensen and Hayes Junek, Cuba, Kan.; brother, Dale Anderson, Culpeper, Va.; sister, Denise L’Ecuyer (Steve), Manhattan, Kan.; mother-in-law, Alice Hughes, Clyde, Kan.; sister-in-law, Debbie Czapanskiy (Bill), Clyde, Kan.; brother-in-law, David Hughes II (Patti), Lampe, Mo.; four children from previous marriage: Michelle Walling (Randy), Washington, Kan., Amy Blackwood (DJ), Westmoreland, Kan., Angela Girard (John), Osborne, Kan., and Jim Jr., Topeka, Kan.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jim has chosen cremation. Visitation will be at Chaput Mortuary in Clyde, Kansas, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2023, at The Branch in Clyde.
Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Clyde, Kansas.
The family suggests memorials be made to James Anderson memorial fund and will be designated by the family at a later date, in care of Chaput Mortuary, PO Box 291, Clyde, KS 66938.
