June M. Fike, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023, in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born in Concordia, Kan., raised by her loving grandparents, Leo and Agnes McCarty, and was a lifelong resident of Valley Center, Kan. After graduation from Concordia High School, she worked at Montgomery Ward and Morgan Insurance Agency.
In September of 1955, she married her sweetheart, Eldon Fike, and together they raised two daughters, Debbie and Delcie. She enjoyed being a homemaker, co-Girl Scout leader, and babysitting for various families over the years.
She served alongside her husband in different capacities at the VC First United Methodist Church where they attended for over 50 years. She always looked forward to weekly meals out with their friends and neighbors. She really enjoyed the times she and Eldon could winter in Arizona with their daughter Debbie, as well as other trips they were able to take around the U.S. in their retirement years.
One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always tried to have their favorite snacks in stock at the house when they came to visit. She was known to walk blocks out of her way to avoid an encounter with a dog.
One of her favorite Bible verses was John 14:1-3, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” KJV
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leo and Agnes McCarty; half-sister, Kathy Nelson; husband, Eldon Fike, and great-grandson, Barron John Noffsinger.
She is survived by daughters, Debbie (Armand) Chavanelle of Tucson, Ariz., and Delcie (Roger) Malcom of Valley Center, Kan.; grandchildren, Andrea Noffsinger of Wichita, Kan., Brandon (Ginny) Noffsinger of Jamesport, Mo., and Triston (Tasha) Malcom of Sedgwick, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Bentley and Oliver Noffsinger; Trace, Trisha, and Tianna Malcom; sister-in-law, Darlene Fike of Gresham, Ore.; brother-in-law, Donald Fike of Wichita, Kan.; cousins, Bonnie File of Beloit, Kan., and Elaine Rusk of Wichita, Kan.
Private graveside service has been held for immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Valley Center Public Library at 314 E. Clay, Valley Center, KS 67147.
