KAREN KAY (BURDICK ) JOHNSON

Karen Kay (Burdick) Johnson, age 77, passed away December 7, 2019,  at Park Nicolett-Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. She was born May 14, 1962, the daughter of Hiram A. and Frances (Gray) Burdick, at Jamestown, Kansas. She was raised a farm girl and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1960. She attended Fort Hays State University and Weaver Airline School in Kansas City, Missouri. Karen began a career in Travel Accommodations with Northwest Orient Airlines in Chicago, Illinois. She transferred to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. She met her husband, Darryl Johnson in Minneapolis; they married May 1967. Karen and Darryl had two children, a daughter, Kari and a son, Jayson. After Northwest Airlines discontinued, Karen worked at the Pillsbury Home Office in Minneapolis. One chief duty was all travel and accommodations for the Pillsbury Bake-Off. She worked several years for MLT travel, traveling extensively. Karen retired from Park Nicolett-Methodist as the Communications Director.
Karen enjoyed everything about her life in "God's country" and her husband's Norwegian-Swedish family. She was a sports enthusiast, especially the Minnesota Vikings, the Twins and Minnetonka High School.  
Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Darryl and her parents.
Karen is survived by a daughter, Kari (Brad) Listi, Los Angeles, Calif.; a son, Jayson(Alison Palley), St. Louis Park, Minnesota; grandchildren, Evan Listi and Jack River Listi; brother, Dennis (Janice) Burdick, Clyde; nieces, Megan Nobert and Molly Skocny, Clyde and Monica Wurtz, Clifton; many friends, coworkers and members of the Johnson family.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be held on January 4, 2020, in Minnetonka.
