LEON FIEF, JR.

Clay Center, KS –– Leon Fief, Jr., 90 years old, passed away January 15, 2019 in Clay Center, Kansas. Leon was born on January 27, 1928 in Clifton, Kansas to Leon, Sr. and Amelia (Cyre) Fief.
Leon was raised in the St. Joe, KS area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his time in the service, he made his home in Concordia. Leon married Bernice Adams on June 15, 1953. He attended trade school, studying heating and air conditioning. In 1958, Leon and Bernice made their home in Clay Center. Leon worked for Sears, owned and operated Fief Refrigeration and operated the Montgomery Wards store in Clay Center, retiring in 1994. Leon was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the V.F.W.
Bernice preceded him in death on July 18, 1993. Leon was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, three sisters and a great-granddaughter.
Survivors include his sons, Greg and wife Paula Fief of Clay Center, KS. and Steven Fief of Manhattan, KS.; daughters, Brenda and husband Phil Pfizenmaier of Clay Center and Saundra "Kate" and husband Loy James of Salina, KS.; sister, Phyllis Karpierz of Gladstone, MO.; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center, KS. with minister Fr. Randall Weber officiating. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. Visitation will be Monday, January 21, 2019 from 3-6 p.m. at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home with Rosary being recited at 6 p.m.
