Mary Ann (Hamel) Morris

Mary Ann (Hamel) Morris, age 81, of Baileyville, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kan. Mary was born on June 30, 1940, in Alton, Kansas, to Francis and Yvette (Favreau) Hamel. She attended school at St. Ann Grade School in Clyde, then graduated from Clyde High School, Class of 1958.
Mary Ann attended Salina Beauty College and received her degree in cosmetology.
She married Larry Morris on December 23, 1959, in Salina, Kansas. They were married for 55 years until Larry’s passing on March 3, 2015.
To this union three children were born: Dennis, Sherri, Barry.
She was a homemaker and worked in a daycare for 13 years. Taking care of children was her passion.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and most of all, spending time with her beloved family and friends.
Mary Ann was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Ardmore, Ala.
Survivors include her sons, Dennis (Lisa), Barry; and a daughter, Sherri; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, John Hamel; sister, Rita Salmon; a sister, Pauline and husband Francis Ouellette; and sister, Kathleen Ouellette; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; parents, Francis and Yvette; a brother, Ernest Hamel; and a sister, Theresa Mary (Deaver) Schwab.
Memorial Services will be on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Chaput Mortuary Clyde, Kansas, with Fr. Steven Heina officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, Kansas.
