Mary Rose Wiltzius

Mary Rose Wiltzius, age 94, died September 9, 2020, in Clyde, Kansas. She was born May 5, 1926, in Aurora, Kansas, to Joseph H. and Ella C. (Brunell) DeMars.
Mary graduated from the Aurora Catholic High School in 1944. She married Paul Petersen and they made their home in Kansas City. While living in Kansas City she worked as an airline scheduler. Paul preceded her in death at a young age. After her husband’s death she moved back to Aurora and worked at the Aurora COOP. She later married Earl Wiltzius on April 28, 1956. They lived in rural Clifton where they farmed. Earl preceded her in 1980. She moved from the farm into Clifton in 1982. Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She taught Catechism and CCD. She was also a member of the Clifton American Legion Auxiliary, Graduates, Clifton Historical Society, and the Clifton Senior Center.
In addition to her husbands, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sharon Rae Petersen; son, Roy Wiltzius; brothers, Harold, Merle, C. Dale, and Curtis Demars; sisters, Glorianne Demars and Nada Sicard and son-in-law, Gary Hubert.
She is survived by her daughters, Marsha Hubert, Clyde, Kan. and Ann (Stan) Marshall, Clifton, Kan.; sister-in-law, Madeline Demars, Concordia, Kan.; seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 14, 2020, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clifton, Kansas, with Father Steven Heina officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 13, 2020, from 4-7 p.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Mary Wiltzius Memorial Fund in care of Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home.
