NOVELLA M. (FLEWELLING) TRUDE

Novella M. (Flewelling) Trude, age 94, of Jamestown, Kansas, left this earthly life on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, Kansas. She was born on April 12, 1925, in rural Glasco, Kansas, to Rexford and Neva (Amspacker) Flewelling.
She graduated from Randall Rural High School in 1943 and married Carl R. Trude on September 28, 1947, at Randall, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on April 23, 2006.  Novella worked at Cheyenne Lodge Nursing Home and Jamestown Post Office.  She also served as Jamestown City Clerk for over 23 years.
Novella was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church, Willing Workers EHU and 50 year member of Grand Chapter of Kansas Order of the Eastern Star, Leah Chapter.  Novella and her husband Carl were original founders of the Fairview Hilltoppers 4-H Club in 1961, where she was a Community Leader and Projects Leader for many years.
Novella loved to bake and decorate cakes and the cakes were usually homemade, not from a box!  She made several wedding cakes, and grandchildren were allowed to pick a cake design for their birthday. She always did an amazing job, from Batman to a Princess.  Novella was well known in Jamestown for baking and decorating cupcakes to be given out at Halloween, and she usually had 2 to 3 times as many children at her house than anyone else!
Survived by her two sons, Jerry Trude, Jamestown and Gary Trude (Betty), Salina; three daughters, Donna Barrett (Roger), Jamestown, Brenda Cunningham, Olathe and Carol Glotzbach, Council Grove; sister, Shirley Riedmiller (Bob), Derby; sister-in-law, Naomi Flewelling, Formoso; ten grandchildren, Stacey Barrett Forshee, Kevin Barrett (Karen), Kyle Trude (Laci), Kayla Palumbo (Tony), Kelsey Cunningham Lewis (Matt), Keah Cunningham, Jeremy Glotzbach (fiancé Allyson), Megan Glotzbach (fiancé Matt), Jennifer Chestnut (Matt) and Rachel Martin (Mac); thirteen great-grandchildren, Kendra Forshee (fiancé Blaine), Lauren Field (Braden) and Wyatt Forshee, Katherine Barrett, Kora Trude, Brynlee and Olivia Palumbo, MacKinzie Martin and Tyler Martin, Claire and Clayton Chestnut, Quentin and Elyce Cunningham Lewis; and 1 great-great-grandchild (baby Field) on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; granddaughter, Jaime Trude; brother, Lawrence Flewelling; sister, Thelma Rhodes & husband, Marion and sons-in-law, Joseph Glotzbach and David Cunningham.
Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas.  Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at the Jamestown United Methodist Church, Jamestown, Kansas, with Pastor Randy Whitley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, Kansas.
