Letter to the Editor 1-13-21

Dear editor,
On January 6, 2021, an event occurred in Washington D.C. that was sad, predictable and preventable.
In 2016, Donald J. Trump was legally elected to be the 45th president of the United States. His Democratic opponents never accepted his election. They tried to impeach him before he was sworn in. He was tried in a farce, failed impeachment attempt, said to be Putin's pawn, criticized daily by both his Democratic opponents and the so-called press corp that does not even begin to be fair and impartial in their coverage of him or his family, including this very paper, which to my recollection has never printed a positive article about President Trump.
The people who voted for him, of which I am one, were insulted and disparaged at every turn. His tenure as president was marked by any notable, positive accomplishments which we overlooked or criticized, but seldom acknowledged by a group of so-called journalists who gleefully joined in what was nothing less than a coup attempt.
The Dems seem to have forgotten that roughly 50 percent of the voters in the USA voted for and support President Trump.
Nancy Pelosi is so hate filled that she either cannot or will not contain it. She is a national disgrace.
Anytime you have so much hatred directed at a president and his supporters you are setting the stage for dissent among his supporters. When you factor in an election that appeared to be rampant with ballots that disappeared, others that suddenly appeared in Biden's favor and suspicious rule changes in some states that favored Biden there appeared to be sufficient evidence of fraud, negligence or outright counting of illegal votes.
Dead people and non citizens appeared to be amongst Biden's voters. A quick, thorough investigation would have assured President Trump's supporters that this was or was not a valid vote count. Instead the Dems rammed it through and left the impression that they did have something to hide.
We are a free people and as such are entitled to our opinions and freedom to criticize our elected officials. When it becomes apparent that our president is not being treated fairly and with the respect due him and his office, people can only tolerate so much.
I did not agree with storming the Capitol, but when people have had enough they take action. This event should serve as a wakeup call to the incoming administration that they need to serve all of the people, and when elected officials attempt to use their office to get revenge on their political opponents there are consequences.
We will never heal our divided nation as long as people are not treated fairly.
I do believe that BLM and antifa are domestic terror groups that are supported by many Democrats. This support of these groups is dangerous and anti-American and they need to be prosecuted for all the destruction and angst that they have caused.
I am a U.S. Army veteran, graduate of Concordia College, now Concordia University, with a BA in organizational management, but first and foremost I am an American citizen and as such have a right to my opinion.
