Letter to the Editor 1-15-21

Dear editor,
Healing our land starts with me.
May I keep the focus on issues rather than make degrading comments about another person or political party.
May I show respect to those in authority. Some of the riots would not have occurred if people would have followed the lawful directions of law enforcement.  For our elected leaders, teachers, first responders and others in leadership we should pray and support them. We can disagree in a respectful manner.
May I support justice despite the cause. It is never okay to violate our government's property or other businesses to make a point. Rioters should face punishment.
May I have discerning ears on who I listen to. Are they providing a message of hope and a proper way to work towards change?
May I show Christ love to everyone including those who have different beliefs than me.
May I help create an environment where people from opposing views will be listened to and not be degraded. Social media and colleges should stop blocking those with opposing views that are not a call for violence. Freedom of speech is part of what makes America great.
May I be more articulate in voicing my concerns in the right manner to the right people.
May I spend more time focusing on being the person God designed me to be.  Knowing God’s love and providence helps me to focus more on others than myself.  May I be a peacemaker that does my part to provide healing for our land.
