Letter to the Editor 10-1-21

Dear editor:
Since the firing of Dr. Adrian Douglas as CCCC president in June 2020 during the height of the pandemic, some of us have asked what happened? No one that is familiar with the college seems to know the reasoning behind her firing.
The trustees who initially interviewed her were Greg Askren, Ellen Anderson, Tom Tuggle, Larry Henry, Linda Richard and Dave Clemons.
The trustees who hired her were Greg Askren, Ellen Anderson, Tom Tuggle, Larry Henry, Jesse Pounds and Patricia MacFarlane.
The trustees who fired her were Greg Askren, Ellen Anderson, Jesse Pounds, Pat MacFarlane, Jim Koch and Richard Hubert.
Subsequently, the trustees have been hit with a lawsuit. Since the inception of the college, no past president has ever sued the board, to my knowledge.
Individuals that are associated with the college seem embarrassed that this is happening to our flagship school.
I can only hope that this letter will generate interest among the taxpaying public to seek answers and a speedy resolution to this matter.
Dr. Douglas’ career has been thwarted, students and faculty may be wary that our school doesn’t aspire to high ideals. Faculty and community may wonder what this chain of events will do to future enrollment and success of the college.
Sincerely
Ted Collins
