Letter to the Editor 11-2-22

Dear editor,
Recently a letter to the editor was published with false information, and I would like to set the record straight. There is no attorney general in the nation that has done more to help stop the terrible scourge of fentanyl than our very own, Derek Schmidt.
Derek Schmidt has put massive pressure on the Biden administration to step up their efforts at our southern border to stop the flow of fentanyl; he and I are working to permanently classify fentanyl as Schedule I drug, which will permanently give law enforcement the tools to help combat the fentanyl crisis; he's even asked Joe Biden to classify fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction; and much more.
On the other hand, even though Kansas saw the nation's second-highest increase in overdose deaths last year, Governor Laura Kelly hasn't done much to halt the crisis. In fact, she refused to send National Guard troops to the southern border in an effort to stop the drug cartels from getting fentanyl into our communities — she even called the effort “political games.”
The choice for Kansas Governor could not be clearer. I urge all Kansans to vote for Derek Schmidt for Governor on November 8 so that we can continue working together to make our communities safe and rid them of deadly fentanyl.
Roger Marshall, M.D.
