Beims named recipient of Gwen Fletcher Scholarship

Concordia High School senior Chloe Beims has been named the recipient of the Gwen Fletcher Scholarship by the high school English/language arts teachers.
Beims has been involved in choir and drama productions and was the senior editor of the high school newspaper. She plans to attend Cloud County Community College and transfer to a university to major in funeral science.
The scholarship is awarded in honor of Gwen Fletcher, a former Concordia High School English teacher. It rewards and encourages excellence in writing.
Students qualifying for the $200 scholarship are given one hour to write an essay on a prompt that they have not seen before. The essays are ranked by the language arts teachers.
Seniors must have a 3.75 or better grade point average in English during their first three years of high school and must have taken and passed English Composition, a college-level class.
