Chapter AO of PEO met at the home of Sarah Jeardoe on October 12. We discussed potential scholarship nominees. We voted on a proposed member. Our focus of discussion was the upcoming fund-raising auction to be held on December 14. Members agreed to invite Chapter EV and personal guests. The location is yet to be determined. Linda Hayden and Sarah Jeardoe served a delicious pumpkin cake. The next meeting is October 26 at the Concordia Lutheran Church.

SASNAK Study Club met on October 13, 2021, with Sylvia Chancellor as hostess. Vice President Bev Caron presided and called the meeting to order. She asked for the reading of the last meeting's minutes. They were read and approved.
Sylvia Chancellor's program was on her life. Sylvia was born in Kansas City, Missouri. She was named after both her grandmothers and she was the oldest of three children. Her father worked at a Ford dealership in Ellsworth but when his boss died the family moved to Mission, Kansas, where her father continued to work at a Ford Motor dealership. The family moved to Ark City when she was in seventh grade.
After high school she graduated from Cowley County Community College and Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia with a degree in elementary education. While in Emporia she met her first husband, Ron Odette, who was from Concordia. Their oldest son was born in Emporia. They eventually got jobs as teachers in St. Louis, Mo. After St. Louis they moved to Kansas City, Mo. They eventually bought a farm equipment business in Bennett, Iowa. Her husband wanted to move back to Concordia, so once again, with a four-week-old baby and during a blizzard, they moved back to Concordia.
After seventeen years of marriage, she and Ron divorced and she was a single mom for five years. She was working for Kennedy & Coe when she met her husband, Darrell. Darrell worked at Northern Natural Gas in Clifton. Since she married Darrell they have lived in Victoria, Texas, Waterloo, Iowa, and they bought a house in LaPorte City, Iowa, a small town south of Waterloo. She got a job at a bank there and her three youngest boys graduated from high school there. Her last job was a teller at Central National Bank and she was there for close to eight years when she retired.
The next meeting will be November 10, 2021, with Phyllis Shanks as hostess.
Respectively,
Verna Ferguson, secretary
