Joshua Meyer, funeral director for Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia, Chaput Mortuary in Clyde and Melby Mortuary in Mankato, has been elected the secretary/treasurer of the Kansas Funeral Directors Association.
The election of officers took place during the annual meeting of the Kansas Funeral Directors Association (KFDA) membership that was conducted via Zoom video conferencing.
The meeting is usually conducted during the annual convention of KFDA. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the convention was postponed.
The following slate of officers was nominated and elected: President elect, Bob Davis, Kansas City; vice president, Donna Mathena-Menke, Topeka; and Meyer.
Meyer has served on the KFDA board of directors as the District 6 officer since 2015. The district includes Cloud County and all of northwest Kansas to the Colorado border.
Meyer, who has been employed with the funeral home in Concordia since 2001, also serves as the legislative committee chairman. He has served on the committee for 15 years.
The legislative committee is responsible for overseeing legislative action and potential laws that may have an impact on the funeral industry in Kansas, and testifying before the legislature on proposed laws.
“I have always been a proponent of being involved in your industry association because it not only benefits your business but the health of the funeral business for consumers as well,” Meyer said, “I take the responsibility of serving our members seriously and hope I am able to represent them well on all levels.”
