Rotary Scholarships awarded

The Concordia Rotary Club would have honored Concordia High School and Cloud County Community College graduates who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or above during their annual scholarship banquet that was scheduled for Thursday in the auditorium of the Sisters of St. Joseph Nazareth Motherhouse.
All of the area graduates and scholars would have been recognized at this event. Unfortunately, this recognition was another side effect of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Concordia Rotary Club was unable to host their annual scholarship banquet.
The scholarship committee recommended the following three finalists for the C. Carl Cunningham Rotary Scholarship: Ciara Kearn, daughter of Dannie and Tanya Kearn, Jr.; Taegen Larsen, daughter of Aaron and Stacy Larsen and Austin Kaufmann, son of Allyn & Lori Kaufmann.
In an effort to maintain some normality, the Rotary Scholarship Committee held a virtual Rotary meeting on Thursday, April 23, 2020, for the three finalists to present their essays on the Rotary 4 Way Test to the Concordia Rotary Club and the scholarship committee as part of the requirement of the C. Carl Cunningham Rotary Scholarship. The committee recognized the three finalists and all the graduates from all areas of academia for their efforts during this challenging time.
The committee awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Ciara Kearn; a $500 scholarship to Taegen Larsen and a $300 scholarship to Austin Kaufmann.
Beginning in 1985, many high school students have benefited from the club's memorial scholarship program to attend college. The scholarship honors C. Carl Cunningham, a former educator and dedicated Rotarian of the Concordia Rotary club.
Rotary annually hosts a recognition dinner for high school and community college honors students.
