Senator Bowers raises cancer awareness

Senator Bowers Raises Cancer Awareness

On May 26 Senator Elaine Bowers spoke at an event at the Capitol in Topeka celebrating a distinctive license plate for Braden's Hope for Childhood Cancer.
Braden's Hope for Childhood Cancer has funded more than $4 million in research on the triggers and treatments for childhood cancer. Childhood cancer remains the single largest cause of death by illness for children, yet it receives less than 4% of total cancer research funding from the National Institutes of Health.
Sen. Bowers helped champion a bill that will increase awareness of childhood cancer and raise funds that will aid in research to identify the triggers for childhood cancer and identify treatments.
