In observance of National Hospital Week, these employees at St. Joseph Hospital received special recognition for their years of service: Mary Frances Cailteux, 15, laboratory; Gladys Hewitt, 10, ward clerk third floor; Elma Trost, 10, nurse aide third floor; Wilma Swenson, 10, registered nurse nights; Wilma Henry, 20, office; Dorothy Lefort, 20, nurse aide second floor; Dora Morrill, 10, central service; and Mabel Bisnette, 20, housekeeping... Scott Baumann was the winner of the 40-yard dash at the Washington School kindergarten-first grade Play Day.

Marci Penner, director of the Kansas Sampler Foundation, was the featured speaker at the 17th Annual Tourism Recognition Ceremony... Heather Hodgins, daughter of John and Donna Hodgins, had been selected to participate in a national food and nutrition career exploration program sponsored by Kraft and the national 4-H Council... Karla Taylor, bartender at Concordia's VFW Home, was staying on the roof of the building until she raised $200 or more as part of the UGLY (Understanding, Generous, Love-able You) Bartender Challenge to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis.
