March 6, 1970

Members of the Concordia Centennial steering committee and Sam Grogg of the Rogers Company, celebration consultants, held a meeting in the Hospitality Room to figure out details of the upcoming Centennial Celebration... a car belonging to Ray McKenna, Concordia, which was stolen by six girls who escaped from the Beloit Industrial Girls' school, had been recovered in Omaha, abandoned and stripped down... Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Menzies were the parents of a son born at St. Joseph Hospital... Richard Widmark and Lena Horne starred in “Death of a Gunfighter,” showing at the Grand Theater.

A Travel and Leisure Show was held at the Concordia National Guard Armory... the North Central Kansas Lutheran Brotherhood Branch #8715 donated $250 to the Cloud County Food Bank... Concordia Middle School students that took part in the Regional Math Contest were Katie Baldwin, Jaime Anderson, Starla Gartin, Brea Prindaville, Kristina McFall and Amber Campbell; and Concordia Junior High School students that took part in the math contest were Skyler Gartin, Derek Smily, Kristine Keil, Dustin Deneault, Charley Henry and Josh Ballard.

Jitters Coffee House was holding a “Meet the Chief” to help welcome Concordia's new Police Chief, Chris Edin, to the community... Casey Zimmerman and Gavin Koester of Concordia High School and Dylan Koch and Alex Potuzak of Clifton-Clyde High School were awarded Hansen Leader of Tomorrow scholarships... Walmart donated $1,000 to Concordia High School to be used for student activities... wheat was selling at $4.32, corn was $3.38, and milo was $3.36 per bushel on local markets.

The Cloud County Commission signed a proclamation commemorating Cloud County Community College's 50th anniversary... Concordia High School senior Jace Coppoc signed to compete in track and field at CCCC... the Dream Team, composed of Laura Krier, Amber Farha, Tabi Brown, Kim Reynolds, Rachel Kueker, Rio Brown, Carolyn Blair-Mobley and Amy Anderson, placed first in the Concordia Recreation Women's Basketball League... wheat was selling at $4.93, corn was $3.52, and milo was $4.54 per bushel on local markets.

Cloud County Community College president Dr. Adrian Douglas announced that the school had launched a new project to expand the broadband infrastructure in the area called Cloud-Frastructure... students for the month at Concordia Middle School were Gunner Barnes, fifth grade, and Brigham Chavey, sixth grade... Beulah Nobert placed first in the Booster Club card party at the Concordia Senior Citizens Center... wheat was selling at $4.16, corn was $3.28, and milo was $3.15 per bushel on local markets.
